All Time Favorite for His Birthday - Japanese Strawberry Shortcake

Every year, when I ask my hubby what kind of cake he would like for his birthday. He'd always tell me one and only - Strawberry Shortcake. He loves the soft sponge, that sandwich with smooth and creamy Chantilly cream.

Just simple and pure taste about what a cake is ( at least for him). He's not much of a fan of fanciful flavor cakes, maybe occasionally he might ask for coffee sponge and simple roll cakes. How boring! :)

My boy is eagerly waiting for daddy's return form work, and got excited about singing birthday song and blowing the candles. As if that is his own birthday! After which, he shall have a good night sleep......

What s beautiful cake, i am sure it tastes even better than it looks, thats why its always your hubby's favourite cake. One day i hope to try making a special cake instead of just regular fruit bread/muffins type.

Esther, I am sure you would wanna try out many other cakes. Eating your own baked cakes at home is always different. :)

Did you use japanese cream this time? If no, what is the substitute you used?
Thanks a lot!! :)

Yes, I used Japanese cream this time. The closest we could get in SIngapore would be President whipping cream. Do give it a try and let me know ya!
